Amazing … the first DVD I pull out of the box, and voilá! Here is this picture. Taken with a Pentax 6×7 medium format, er … film camera. You’ve heard of that, right?
If you walk out onto the salt flats of Badwater far enough, this is what you’ll find – at least, this is what my wife and I found back in March, 2002. Come Saturday, I’ll be riding along the edge of the mountains on the right side of the picture. On the horizon lies Furnace Creek, the start line, and also the 150 mile mark. With any luck, my legs will still be spinning and I’ll still be smiling.
I wish I had time for photography on the upcoming trip, but I’ll be focused on staying rested before the big ride. My wife will have plenty of time, though.
